My two free days!

The past two days (Thursday and Friday) the whole group had free to do whatever we wanted. On Thursday I was still recovering from being sick so I took it easy. A big group of us went to the pebble beach, which was about a ten minute walk down from our apartment. It was nice just to have a day to relax!

The next morning we woke up early to go to Ventimiglia, Italy. Every Friday the town has a huge market from 8am-1pm. All of the tents were set up along the water so it was really cool to see. After shopping for a little while, we decided to eat our way back to the train station. We started with lunch at a little restaurant by the market. I got delicious Italian pizza that came with tiramisu for dessert! After that I got Nutella flavored gelato (another Italian specialty) AND THEN we got cannolis for the road. I know what you’re thinking, I’m a complete fatass….but we had to! We were in Italy and we had to try one of everything…they’re known for their food! Just read Eat, Pray, Love and you’ll understand.

After slipping into a food coma on the train, we got back to Antibes around 2 pm. Later that afternoon we hiked up to the top of the fort that’s just across the water from our apartment. It was really neat to see, and just made me wonder what kind of history it held.

Tomorrow we’re heading to Port-Cros for three days. It will be the closest experience to camping I’ve ever had….but there’s a first time for everything, right? I’ll be back to give an update about whether or not I survived the great outdoors of France in a few days!
