Hanging with the Stars

So since I missed a day of blogging, I’ll make up for it now! Yesterday was my first full day in Antibes and I definitely tried to make the most of it. I woke up and had a croissant for breakfast (I felt very French!), and then the whole study abroad group took a tour of Antibes! It is the most charming town I have ever seen. All of the roads are old cobblestone, and there are the most quaint stores and cafes on every corner! I had lunch at one of these cafes, and it was probably one of the most delicious meals I have ever had. After that, I laid out/took a nap by the pool at the apartment and then we had class (by the pool as well). Who knew class could be so relaxing?! That night we went Carte Bancaire for dinner. I had a cold cut platter for an appetizer (all different kinds of French meat), which was nothing like I had ever tasted, and pork and beef for dinner. It was very different, but very delicious! After a long and relaxing dinner a big group of us went out to a bar called Hops. Obviously, there were mostly French-speaking people there, but as soon as a Bon Jovi song came on, everyone in the bar seemed to know English!

Today we all made a trip to Cannes for the Cannes Film Festival. Cannes pretty much seemed like the Hollywood of France. The main street that we walked along was right beside the ocean and everywhere you turned there was a designer shop….Channel, Fendi, Dolce & Gabanna, Ralph Lauren, etc. It was exactly like Rodeo drive. We then walked around and explored Cannes for a little while, looking for somewhere to get lunch…but we ended up finding something even better! Right when we were walking by the road a car pulls up and Patrick Dempsey jumps out of it! In about two seconds there was a whole swarm of people and paparazzi surrounding him. I was so close I could have reached out an touched him, but I didn’t want to be creepy. So instead I chased him down the block trying to get the best possible picture of him, haha. I don’t think I’ve ever been so starstruck in my entire life. After hanging out with some celebs, we finally ate lunch and I tried my first ever Coca-Cola Lite! It wasn’t the same as my beloved Diet Coke but it will do for the time being. For the rest of the time in Cannes we walked around the city, window shopped, walked on the beach, admired all the billion-dollar yachts anchored in the ocean, but best of all we climbed to the top of a mountain that overlooked the entire city.  It was probably one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen. Everything about my day was just about perfect. The weather, the food, the sites, and the celebrities! Can’t wait to see wait France has in store for me tomorrow!
